Centre for Alternative Land Use

Thursday, 26^th February 2009. Apples
Tuesday, 5^th May 2009. Tree Fruit
Two training courses have been arranged by the Centre for Alternative Land Use (CALU), based in Bangor, North Wales and funded by Farming Connect. They will be held at the Primrose Earth Awareness Trust (PEAT), Primrose Farm, Felindre, Three Cocks, led by MAN member, Marc Richmond. Tea/coffee will be provided but please bring sandwiches for lunch. Hard hats will be provided and some tools but please bring your own secateurs and pruning saws if possible (we advise you to name your own tools). There will be no charge for these events. Gloucestershire Orchard Group

GOG are holding pruning, budding and grafting training events throughout the year, in conjunction with the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers.

Cider Making

Peter Mitchell, formerly of Core Food and Drink, gives courses on cider making. Full course details are available on his website.

The Pershore Group of Colleges

Pershore College advertised three different 2 or 3 day courses in 2006 and 2007 - Apple Juice Processing, Cider Making: Fruit Orcharding, Cider Making: Cider Production.

The Royal Horticultural Society runs events at Pershore College. Some of these events are relevant to orcharding such as the workshop Fruit Tree Pruning in November 2006. Note that these courses are open to non-members of the RHS (although the fees are then higher).
