As the flowers set for this year's apples, the cider made from last autumn's crop becomes ready to taste...
BLOSSOMTIME
A UNIQUE BLEND OF ORCHARDS IN BLOSSOM AND TRADITIONAL CIDER TASTING
Here is a special springtime opportunity to enjoy the lovely countryside and orchards of the Marcle Ridge area of Herefordshire, where local orchards are famous both for their cider fruit and their dessert and culinary fruit. The events are based around a grand cider tasting in Putley Village Hall, where you will find an array of traditional ciders and perries from Herefordshire and surrounding counties, together with some of the cidermakers for you to meet. Blossomtime is not just for cider enthusiasts, there are also apple juices to taste. You can enjoy a walk through the orchards around Putley, with or without a guide, then refresh yourselves with excellent homemade food. Following last year's success, more 'Blossomviewing' will take place in Aylton. In Much Marcle, James Marsden leads a wildlife walk featuring traditional orchards.
Sunday 1st May 2pm to 6pm and Monday 2nd May 12noon to 5pm
Cider, perry and apple juice tasting £1.50 for 6 tokens on door. Cider tasting finishes half an hour before closing time.
Apple teas will be served in the hall.
'Bumble Bees and Bastard Blenheims' Paul Hand of 'Bees and Trees' invites you to join in with some of his fruity activities.
A breath of Japan comes to Aylton.
More haiku (short poems of Japanese origin) with readings and meditation lead by David Walker of The British Haiku Society.
In Aylton Church on Sunday at 3pm and Monday at 2pm.

10.30am-12noon Wildlife of traditional orchards at Blossomtime. James Marsden of Gregg's Pit guides a walk around orchards in Much Marcle. Tickets £2.50 in advance. Places limited, prebooking essential, 01531 670544.
11.30am A guided walk through the orchards and fields of Putley and Aylton will leave Putley Village Hall. Charge £1.50 adult, children free.
Monday May 2nd

From 12noon Delicious lunches will be available at Putley Village Hall, proceeds in aid of the village hall.
Leominster Morris will dance at 3pm at Putley Village Hall.
The Trumpet at Trumpet crossroads, open from 8am serving breakfasts as well as other meals.
The Verzon on the A438 between Ledbury and Trumpet.
Weston's Cider Makers, Much Marcle
Open all weekend, 10am to 4pm. Guided tours at 11am (not Sat), 2.30pm; £3.50 per person. Farm walks. Dray-rides. Visit the shop, Bottle Museum and garden. Light snacks served.
11am to 5pm Awnells Farm, Much Marcle
Open days on Sunday & Monday for Countryside Restoration Trust. Tours conducted throughout the day, including organic orchard with 300 year old cider apple tree.
From 9.30am Little Verzons Fruit Farm
Coffee shop and plants. (A438 towards Ledbury)
10am to 5pm. In Ledbury Mrs Muffins Teashop, Church Lane. Uses recipes from Big Apple book
